Joe Biden wins 2020 presidential election
November 3rd, 2020 was an important day in U.S. history. It was Election Day! Millions of people voted that day.

Some states had incredibly close races. For this reason, it took a very long time to count all the votes.
Over the next four days, states were slowly called for either Republican Donald Trump, or for Democrat Joe Biden.
Finally, on Nov. 7th, the state of Pennsylvania was called for Biden. This gave him enough votes in the Electoral College to win the presidential election. Biden’s win will make him the 46th president of the United States.

It also means that the U.S. will have the first woman, and first Black person, to serve as vice president. The vice president-elect is Kamala Harris.
It is estimated that about 165 million people voted in this election. That is more than in any previous presidential election. This 67 percent voting turnout was the largest in more than a hundred years.
